Badminton court dimensions
A badminton court is 13.40 m long and 6.10 m wide (44 × 20 ft) for doubles. Singles uses the same length but a narrower width of 5.18 m (17 ft). Here is every line and measurement, based on the BWF Laws of Badminton.

The doubles court covers about 81.7 m² (880 sq ft). The singles court is about 69.4 m².
The lines and what they are for
- Back boundary line: the end of the court in both singles and doubles rallies, and the back of the singles service court.
- Doubles long service line: 0.76 m inside the back line. A doubles serve must land in front of it. After the serve, the area behind it is in play.
- Short service line: 1.98 m from the net. Every serve must reach it.
- Centre line: splits each half into left and right service courts.
- Side lines: the outer pair marks the doubles court, the inner pair the singles court.

Net and posts
- The top of the net is 1.524 m (5 ft) above the floor at the centre and 1.55 m (5 ft 1 in) at the posts, where it is tied.
- The net is 760 mm (2 ft 6 in) deep, with a fine mesh of 15 to 20 mm.
- The posts stand on the doubles side lines, and are used for both singles and doubles.
Space around the court
Players need room to move beyond the lines and a high ceiling for tall shots. Tournament halls use far more clearance than a club or home court, so if you are marking out a court, leave as much space around it and overhead as you can.
